Measuring up
Free site surveys.
A stair can never be more accurate than the measurements behind it, so we take them ourselves. Surveys are free, take about half an hour, and cover the whole of Sussex, Surrey and the Kent border.
What we look at
- Floor-to-floor and ground-to-threshold heights, with a laser, at more than one point.
- The wall, floor or ground we will be fixing to, and what is behind it.
- Door swings, windows and drains that the stair or balustrade has to avoid.
- Access for delivery: side gates, shared paths, parking, crane or hand-lift.
- Planning and conservation issues you may not have been told about.
Who comes
The surveyor is the person who will draw your stair and, in most cases, one of the fitters who will install it. There is no salesman in between, so what is agreed on site is what gets made.
What you receive
Within a few days of the survey: a scaled drawing, a written fixed price and, if it applies, a note of any planning or building control steps. No obligation at any stage.
Video surveys
For a Juliet balcony, a short run of railings or a simple straight stair we can often survey by video call with you holding the tape, and confirm on the day of fitting. It saves a visit and gets you a price faster.
Same-day estimates
Have a drawing, a photo or a tender pack? We will price it today.
Email it, send it through the form, or ring the workshop in East Grinstead and talk it through with the person who will design it.
